My complete and comprehensive tutorial to installing the famous PS2 Memory Card exploit.

Welcome!

This tutorial will explain, in detail, the simplest way to install the PS2 Memory card exploit, in later sections, I will explain how to download and play extracted games! It's nearly fool proof, so almost everyone with a V10 or below PS2 will be able to accomplish this! You can either use the HD Loader v0.8c or CogSwap Loader v1.0 to boot your PS2 games (HD Loader is the easiest if you have the official Sony network Adapter and a decent size hardrive to plug into it. CogSwap Loader can play burned games, but can be hard if you don't know how to burn PS2 games or don't have good media to burn to. Plus CogSwap loader can ruin your laser over time :S). Both applications are included in the package I've uploaded. Enjoy this tut!

Just to clarify, I SUGGEST TO USE HD LOADER V0.8C! Plays nearly ALL games flawlessly with NO loading times. Its just a lot easier to deal with.


What you will need before you begin:


-This File >

-A fat Sony PS2 NOT a slim.

-A PS2 memory card with at least 2MB space free. (Unofficial or Sony one; it's up to you if you feel you need a Sony one or not.)

-An Action Replay, Gameshark, or Codebreaker. (Whatever one as long as it has a memory card dongle with it.) I guess you can use whatever way you want whether its a modchip or software, it just needs to be able to boot a burned CD-R. AR or GS are the best and easiest way.

-A PS1 game to boot the exploit after it has been installed on your memory card. Any PS1 game will do fine.

-Lastly, WinRAR 3.7 or up to extract the files I have uploaded for you.


-Optional, but best-


-A HDD compatible with an official Sony network Adapter.

-An official Sony network Adapter. (This is required if you want to use a HDD.)


After you have gathered those necessary items...


Grab the PS1 game your going to boot the exploit with and put it in your CD/DVD drive on your computer. Next, open up "titledbgen.exe" and select the drive letter that the disc is in. Click "Add", and then click "Save TITLE.DB". It will save the TITLE.DB file in the same folder as titledbgen.exe. Move the TITLE.DB file you just saved into the "Exploit Files" folder. Now while your in the Exploit Files folder, unrar the "DUMMYFILE.rar" file to here. You can delete the "DUMMYFILE.rar" file after you have fully extracted the "DUMMY3.DAT" file to the Exploit Files folder.

Go back one folder and Open up "CDGenPS2.exe". Drag and drop the following files in "Exploit Files" in this exact order into CDGenPS2.exe:

-CDVD.IRX
-EXPINST.ELF
-SYSTEM.CNF
-TITLE.DB

Next, drag and drop the entire FILES folder into CDGenPS2.exe. Now drag and drop the file "DUMMY3.DAT" into CDGenPS2.exe. This next step is important, go to CDGenPS2.exe and right-click on the file called "SYSTEM.CNF" and click "Edit". Inside the Edit window, tick the "Fix LBA" check box, and change it from 61 to 12231. I'll show a picture of that so you know what I mean. Now just press OK.



Last thing to do is to push the following button to make Bin/Cue files:



Once the files have been made, they should look like this:



Ok now just burn it with Nero or whatever you want, just make sure you burn it as a image not as data. So for Nero you would click this button:



Once the burn is finished, get your PS1 disc ready and goto your PS2! Now unscrew these 8 or, depending on your PS2 version, 10 screws and carefully lift the cover off, there will be a ribbon attached to the On/Off (Green, red) and Reset (Blue) switch:



With the cover off, unscrew these four screws holding the disc tray lid on, and throw these screws, LOL I have never used them (Keep em if you want I guess):



Leaving that lid on for now, insert your Action Replay or Gameshark disc along with its dongle, and wait for it to load up. Once loaded, select "Start Game", then select "Without Codes" and wait at the next screen that shows up (If your cheat disc hasn't stop spinning by now, you have the wrong version cheat disc.). Now, snap that lid off you just unscrewed and replace the disc with your newly burned CD-R disc and replace the lid securely (Like I said, no need for screws, you'll see.) (MAKE SURE THE LID IS SNAPPED ON CORRECTLY! SHOULD SIT NICE AND TIGHT.). Now hit the X button and wait for the exploit to be installed to your memory card.

When its finished, it will say "Installation Complete!", you can now restart your PS2 and insert your PS1 disc you are using to boot the exploit. Once the exploit has loaded, you will be greeted with the PS2 Keylauncher menu, where you can select what program to run. Now, if you have an Official Sony Network Adapter and a hardrive handy, you can shut down your PS2 and plug in your hardrive. When its plugged in (make sure its master), turn your PS2 back on, and just launch HD Loader from the Keylauncher menu to access and format the hardrive to its liking. You can now install games to the hardrive freely. I will explain how to install the games as well.

You can also use the CogSwap Loader included to play burned games, but thats a tutorial in itself and can be hassle full without the right media and/or knowledge. ***I STRONGLY SUGGEST USING HD LOADER WITH A HARDRIVE*** I've gotten EVERY backup to play with a hardrive, not all burned games play, just saying...If you need help using CogSwap Loader, message me and I will explain.

To install games to your hardrive, shut off the PS2 and your computer. Plug your PS2 hardrive into your computer's secondary IDE cable, or whichever one you want to use, and start up the computer. Now, your computer won't detect it, but the program WinHiiP (Included in the RAR file you downloaded.) will. This program is pretty basic, just explore it, but I will explain real quick how to install a ISO game. Open WinHiiP, click "Select Drive" and select the PS2 hardrive. Click the button "Add Image(s)" then Image File(s). Now click "Add Image(s)" and select your ISO file. Last but not least, click "Start". It will begin to install the game. Wait for it to finish, then shut down your computer and re-attach the PS2 hardrive to the PS2 and boot up HD Loader. All done! You now have a PS2 backup game on your PS2 hardrive. ***NOTE: Some games require "Mode 3" to work. You will have the option to select Mode 3 (Along with others) when you install the game. Goto

I personally took time to write this stuff up and I would appreciate it if you leave me as author of it and not claim it as yours if you are to copy and paste somewhere else.

This is still in so call BETA stages but I decided to post it now to get some feedback on it. I'm thinking of adding OS Tweaking to it at the bottom of it but would that be making it too long? Should i just upload the M$ Word file of it and summarize it here? I'm going to post portable versions of all the freeware that i believe is a must have so you can run it from thumb drives anytime

8 Steps

1. Disable system restore, most viruses go into system restore and to get them out it has to be disabled.

2.Backup only important stuff, if you start backing up everything infected files may transfer. However, this might not be needed, unless you got really important stuff.

It comes with small version of Windows 98 that runs from RAM it can be used to back up important files. 3. I recommend that you get Hirens Bootdisk, scan with the 2 antivirus programs and antispyware programs before Windows starts!! Use this disk to test other hardware problems such as test bad RAM, bad hard drives, ect.

4. If you can start Windows and can get to desktop install and run this FREEWARE: Hijackthis, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad Aware 2008, McAfee Stinger, Spyware Terminator, and Malwarebytes Antispyware. Also some good other freeware programs you should get; CCleaner, Glary Utilities and Advance WindowsCare Personal. Run one program at a time, or if your computer is fast run two at same time.

6. Get the latest Geek Squad CD; run all of its antivirus programs. It should remove something. BTW you should disconnect from the internet before using this CD and it will be flagged by some antiviruses cuz it trys to phone home.

7. Once you think you have cleaned your PC, restart normally if things seem fine then go to this links they are free online virus scanners!! Run one by one till you know you’re clean for sure. If one of them comes with virus result, write down its directory and name of it. Then post question in Helpdesk section. Or download the antivirus that detects it and uninstall your current one and use the one that picks up the virus to remove it.

8. Last step is to install CCleaner if you haven’t already and use it to delete temporary files. It can also scan and delete obsolete registry keys. After you have done install Glary Utilities and run it. That program is pretty good and will even scan for spyware too. It will get rid of your junk and speed up your computer. You can also run Advanced WindowsCare Personal which is similar to Glary Utilities in case some junk is left behind.

Using the other two programs that delete registry keys that are obsoletes can be risky sometimes so before you decide to just go along with what the program says is junk make a back up of your Registry!! Install Windows XP Using USB flash drive.

Please note this tutorial works on all computers.
To complete this tutorial you need a 32bit version of Windows XP or Windows Vista installed on your home PC.

What you'll need:

"Install WinXP From USB"

and extract at some folder.

Special Note: If you use the program Nlite be sure to keep the manual installation files as the USB_prep8 script relies on these files.

Extract the files in Bootsect.zip
The next step is to extract USB_prep8 and PeToUSB.
Next copy the PeToUSB executable into the USB_prep8 folder.
Inside of the USB_prep8 folder double click the executable named usb_prep8.cmd.

You next window will look like this:



These settings are preconfigured for you all you need to do now is click start.
Once the format is complete DO NOT close the window just leave everything as it is and open a command prompt from your start menu (type cmd in the search bar or run box depending on your version of windows.).

Inside of the command windows go to the directory you have bootsect.exe saved.
(use the cd directoryname command to switch folders)

Now type "bootsect.exe /nt52 R:" NOTE R: is the drive letter for my USB stick if yours is different you need to change it accordingly. What this part does is write the correct boot sector to your USB stick, this allows your PC to boot from the USB stick without it nothing works.
Please note: When running the bootsect.exe command you cannot have any windows open displaying the content of your USB stick, if you have a window open bootsect.exe will be unable to lock the drive and write the bootsector correctly.

If all went well you should see "Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes."

Now you can close this command prompt (don't close the usbprep8 one by mistake) and the petousb window.

You window you see now should look like this:



If it doesn't try pressing enter.

Now you need to enter the correct information for numbers 1-3.
Press 1 and then enter. A folder browse window will open for you to browse to the location of you XP setup files (aka your cdrom drive with xp cd in)
Press 2 and enter a letter not currently assigned to a drive on your PC
Press 3 and enter the drive letter of your USB stick
Press 4 to start the process.

The script will ask you if its ok to format drive T:. This is just a temp drive the program creates to cache the windows installation files. Press Y then enter.

Once it's done formating press enter to continue again, you can now see the program copying files to the temp drive it created. Once this is done press enter to continue again.

Next you will see a box pop up asking you to copy the files to USB drive yes/no you want to click yes.

Once the script has completed copy files a popup window asking if you would like to USB drive to be preferred boot drive U: select YES on this window.

Now select yes to unmount the virtual drive.

Ok we are done the hard part, close the usbprep8 window.

Now make sure your pc is configured with USB as the primary boot device.
Insert your USB drive and boot up.

On the startup menu you have two options, select option number 2 for text mode setup.

From this point on it is just like any other windows XP installation delete/recreate the primary partition on your pc and format it using NTFS. Make sure you delete ALL partitions and recreate a single partition or you will get the hal.dll error message.

Once the text mode portion of setup is complete it will boot into the GUI mode (you can press enter after the reboot if your too excited to wait the 30 seconds)

Once the GUI portion of setup is complete you will again have to boot into GUI mode this will complete the XP installation and you will end up at you XP desktop. It is very important that you DO NOT REMOVE THE USB STICK before this point. Once you can see your start menu it is safe to remove the usb stick and reboot your pc to make sure everything worked.

This method has advantages over all current no cdrom methods of installing XP to the pc You do not have to copy setup files in DOS to the SSD and install from there. It gives you access to the recovery console by booting into text mode setup, and it gives you the ability to run repair installations of XP if you have problems later on.

1. Close all Microsoft Office applications.
2. Run Register Editor by clicking on Start -> Run, and then type “regedit” in the Open box and press Enter key.
3. Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration
Note that inside the registry key, there should be another subkey that resembles the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE
4. If there is more than one registry entries or subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open up each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName value data until you locate the subkey for the product which you want to remove the existing product license key.
For example:

5. Once found the correct registry subkey, delete the following values:
DigitalProductID
ProductID
6. Close Registry Editor.
Once Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed with no product key, proceed with the following steps:
1. In Windows Explorer, brose to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en\
2. Right click on Proof.XML file, select “Open With…” in the right click menu.
3. In the “Open With” window, select Notepad to be used to open the XML file. In Vista, if you can’t see the Notepad option, simply double click the “Other Programs” to unhide it.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the Proof.XML to locate the following lines:



5. Change the AlwaysInsalled to neverInstalled so that the line looks like following:

6. Save the Proof.xml file. In Windows Vista, you may need to take ownership and grant full access permission to yourself before able to modify the file.
7. You can now launch Microsoft Office 2007 application such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and etc without prompting for activation.

Follow the steps carefully. If you succeed in the following 2 steps, you can have a lifetime account from Rapidshare.

Step 1: Identify where the premium cookie will be stored. To do this,

Method - 4: Bypass 1 Hour Download Limit

You don’t need to wait until the next hour to download a second part of a file. Try this trick (if you are using static ip address, doesn’t use this method). It doesn’t work if u use a proxy though.

For Windows XP:

1. Launch Command Prompt: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. (Or Start > Run… and type in cmd)

2. When Command Prompt is opened, Copy and Paste this in the Command Prompt:

Here's how to do it in windows:

Frequently you will be assigned a new IP address when this happens. Sometime you will, sometimes you will not. If you are on a fixed IP address, this method will not work. To be honest, I do not know how to do this in linux/unix/etc. If this works for you, you may want to save the above commands into a batch file, and just run it when you need it.

1. Download and install Firefox if you have not already
2. Download and install SwitchProxy
3. Google for free proxies
4. When you hit your download limit, clean your cookies and change your proxy

Running your system through the tor network should in theory work; however, it is difficult to use and setup. Plus, you allow others to run their evil deeds through your system as well by using this system. Anonymizer 2005 is inexpensive, easy to use, but not free. The question I am asked most often is "How do I install a dual-boot with Windows XP on my new Windows Vista computer?" The answer is that it's not that difficult, it's just very time consuming, and you need to own a copy of Windows XP.

Note that you should not attempt this if you aren't ready to troubleshoot any problems that might occur.

The first issue we encounter is that computers with pre-installed operating systems take up the entire drive. Luckily Microsoft included the Shrink volume feature in Vista, so we can easily shrink the Vista partition down to make room for XP.

Open the Computer Management panel, which you can find under Administrative tools or by right-clicking the Computer item in the start menu and choosing Manage. Find the Disk Management item in the list and select that.



Now we'll shrink our volume down by right-clicking on the main hard drive and choosing Shrink Volume.



Now you can choose the size that you want to shrink, which really means you are choosing the size that you want your XP partition to be. Whatever you do, don't just use the default. I chose roughly 10gb by entering 10000 into the amount.



The next step might be confusing, because we need to change the cd-rom drive that's invariably taking up D: at the moment, because we want to use D: for the Windows XP partition, but it's already taken by the cd-rom drive. If you skip this step than XP will install onto the E: drive, which isn't the end of the world, but it's not quite as tidy.

Right-click on the cd-rom drive in the list and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths from the menu.



Now we'll change the CD drive to use E: by selecting that in the drop-down.



Now we can create a new partition for XP to live on and make sure that the drive letter is set the way we want. If you do not create a partition now the XP install will do so automatically, but it's easier and cleaner to do it this way.

Right-click on the Unallocated free space area and then select New Simple Volume from the menu.



Follow through the wizard and select whatever options you'd like, making sure to use D: as the drive letter.

Now you will need to close out of disk management and reboot your computer. This is because we can't do the next step until we reboot. (you can try, but it won't work)

So we've come back from rebooting… open up Computer from the start menu and then right-click on the D: drive and select properties. Give your partition a meaningful name like "XP". It would be wise to name the C: drive to "Vista" at this point as well.



Now you'll want to pop your XP cd into the drive and boot off it. You may have to configure your BIOS to enable booting off the CD drive, or if your computer says something like "Hit Esc for boot menu" you might want to use that.

Once you come to the screen where you can choose the partition to install on, then choose either the unpartitioned space or the new partition you created. Whatever you do, don't try and install onto your Vista partition! See how much cleaner it is now that we've labeled each partition distinctly?



We'll assume XP is completely installed at this point, and you will have lost your ability to boot into Windows Vista, so we'll need to use the VistaBootPro utility to restore the Vista boot loader.

During the install you'll be forced to install the .NET 2.0 framework. Open up VistaBootPRO and then click on the System Bootloader tab. Check the "Windows Vista Bootloader" and then "All Drives" radio buttons, and then click on the Install Bootloader button.



At this point, the Windows Vista bootloader is installed and you'll only be able to boot into Vista, but we'll fix that. Instead of manually doing the work, we'll just click the Diagnostics menu item and then choose Run Diagnostics from the menu.



This will scan your computer and then automatically fill in the XP version.. click on the "Manage OS Entries" tab and then click in the textbox for Rename OS Entry, and name it something useful like "Windows XP" or "The Windows That Works"



Click the Apply Updates button and then reboot your computer… you should see your shiny new boot manager with both operating systems in the list!



If you get an error saying "unable to find ntldr" when trying to boot XP, you'll need to do the following:

Find the hidden files ntldr and ntdetect.com in the root of your Vista drive and copy them to the root of your XP drive.
If you can't find the files there, you can find them in the \i386\ folder on your XP install cd

This is a critical piece of information: Windows XP will be installed on the D: drive, even in Windows XP… so you'll need to keep that in mind when tweaking your system.



You can share information between the drives, but I wouldn't recommend messing with the other operating system's partition too much… it might get angry and bite you. Or screw up your files. What I do recommend is that you store most of your files on a third drive shared between the operating systems… you could call that partition "Data".
